NetBeans over GNOME

Posted in GNOME, Open source, Software development by ricardovs on September 27, 2008

This monday (29/09/08) I will be giving a talk about NetBeans over GNOME at INACAP campus La Serena. Before me there is a SUN talk, I don’t know the topic though.

I have planned a 30-45 minutes talk about developing java applications over the GNOME Desktop, by the end of it a simple java application will be shown. Of course there will be an intro to the GNOME Desktop so if you like open source tech and feel like attending, come on over!. It starts at 19 hrs.

Sadly I don’t have any Netbeans DVD to give away (nor any other stuff) but my knowledge =)

See you all there.

Nice surprise

It’s good to know I am not to only guy who is involved in the computer world for a living in the family. Since I am very interested in getting another notebook, which does not need to be as powerful as the one I own nowadays (P Core 2 Duo, 1.8Ghz, 2Gb RAM 667 FSB) by chance I found out about Marcos Varas. He works for Andigraf and is boss of the informatics department. Now I have not had the chance to email him or talk via chat, and I wonder which technologies he prefers, maybe he love linux as much as I do, that would be great!.

Greetings Marcos, and for the rest of you, check out Andigraf’s website.

Hardy’s Trash does work!

It’s true, a long time has passed since I solved it so I just forgot to publish it. It was all my mistake since the whole process described in my entry below had not to be done as root user but as the logged in user. So it works!.

My daughter

Antonia went to the doctor yesterday (well, my gf took her…) and she is 76000 gr. in weight and her height is 66 cm, all good. She is just beautiful and can tell she’ll be a smart one (not only if we all pull together as a team).

Check her latest pictures at my picasa album.
